The Deputy Chief Finance Officer (Accounts) will be responsible to the Chief Finance Officer
- Implementation of an adequate accounting system as a means of maintaining sound financial records, which must recognize, classify, post, summarize and report transactions;
- Overall operation and supervision of finance function in the system;
- Maintenance of high accounting standards within the department;
- Supervision and development of staff in the section; and
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for direct appointment
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:-
- Be a holder of an earned Master’s degree from a recognized Institution, majoring in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or its equivalent;
- Have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (K), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification and be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and in good standing:
- Have at least twelve (12) years relevant experience in a senior position;
- Have valid registration with ICPAK or any other recognized accounting professional body:
- Have certificate in relevant computer applications from a recognized institution;
- Have practical knowledge of Financial Computer packages: and
- Have a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
- An earned Doctorate degree from a recognized university, majoring in Accounting will be an added advantage
Requirements for Serving Officers
For appointment to this position, an officer must:-
- Be a holder of an earned Master’s degree from a recognized Institution, majoring in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or its equivalent:
- Have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (K), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification and be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and in good standing;
- Have served in the grade of Senior Accountant Scale 13 for at least three (3) years:
- Have valid registration with ICPAK or any other recognized accounting professional body;
- Have certificate in relevant computer applications from recognized institution;
- Have practical knowledge of Financial Computer packages:
- Have consistently demonstrated outstanding qualities of Leadership, Coordination and Organization capabilities at Top Management Level:
- Have a certificate in strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution is an added advantage;
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
- An earned Doctorate degree from a recognized university, majoring in Accounting will be an added advantage
