The early stage startup currently operates in East Africa and Asia with a mission to empower African entrepreneurs for growth. The Role

We are looking for a Business Development Lead ideally based in Nairobi, with ability and willingness to travel across Africa. You will play a pivotal role in driving B2B business development and growth within a dynamic and innovative environment. Your responsibilities involve identifying, pursuing, and nurturing strategic business opportunities with other

businesses, and helping them realize the value of our products or services. You will also manage a small marketing and sales team, and help us to optimize our growth engine.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation:
  • Research and identify potential B2B clients within the target market
  • Generate leads through various channels
  • Qualify and prioritize leads based on their potential as valuable business partners
  • Client Relationship Building:
  • Initiate contact with potential clients and build and maintain strong, long-term relationships
  • Understand clients’ business needs, challenges, and goals, and align our offerings with their requirements
  • Product/Service Presentation:
  • Effectively communicate the features, benefits, and value proposition of our products or services to potential clients
  • Customize presentations and proposals to match the unique needs of each client
  • Sales Process Management:
  • Manage the end-to-end sales process, from initial contact to closing deals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery and implementation of solutions
  • Market Research and Competitive Analysis:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitors to identify opportunities and threats
  • Use market insights to refine our sales strategies and offerings
  • Sales Reporting and Forecasting:
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions with clients, leads, and sales activities
  • Provide regular reports and forecasts to the management team
  • Networking and Industry Events:
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to expand your network and promote our brand
  • Act as a brand ambassador, representing our company in a professional manner
  • Client Feedback and Improvement:
  • Gather feedback from clients to understand their experience and needs
  • Share client insights with the product and marketing teams to drive product/service enhancements
  • Team feedback and management:
  • Guide and manage junior team members
  • Optimize sales and marketing work flows

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years’ previous B2B sales experience preferably in logistics, trade, advertisement or fintech
  • Proven track record to develop new corporate businesses in multiple different segments
  • Adept at communicating with business owners and decision makers; great at managing key accounts and relationships
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales processes, lead generation, and client relationship management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Results-driven, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, early stage start-up environment
