Purpose: 

The job holder will be responsible for providing oversight over monthly balance sheet substantiation process across the group, ensuring implementation of group finance policies, embedding financial controls framework across the group, instituting strong GL controls and coordination of all financial and statutory audits across the group. 

Responsibilities:

1.      Responsible for providing leadership and oversight over the balance sheet substantiation processes across the group.

2.      Embedding strong controls around the GL and the suspense accounts

3.      Regular monitoring and review of all group GLs for accuracy and appropriateness of business transactions recorded.

4.      Review of group wide GL reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are investigated and cleared promptly.

5.      Monitor compliance with all local regulatory limits where the group is operating and draw finance management attention for action to avoid breaches.

6.      Responsible for embedding the Financial Control framework across the group.

7.      Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

8.      Preparation of monthly GALCO reports

9.      Any ad hoc tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) majoring in Accounting or equivalent degree.
• Relevant Professional Qualifications e.g, CPA (K) or ACCA.
• MBA (added advantage
• Experience in data analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRSs
• In depth knowledge in central banks governing regulations across the subsidiaries
• At least 7 years in Finance and Financial Reporting, preferably in a bank or in the financial services industry.
