At M-KOPA, We Finance Progress.

The scale and impact of our work is massive. M-KOPA is a fast-growing FinTech company offering millions of underbanked customers across Africa access to life-enhancing products and services. Our people reflect this mission; we pride ourselves in empowering our people to own their own careers and encouraging growth through our learning and development programs, coaching partnerships, and on-the-job training. Our aim is for every employee to be able to shape their own career, whilst helping shape the future of M-KOPA as we grow together.

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a company where progress and humility are valued as highly as technical excellence? At M-KOPA we use the latest technologies to build fantastic customer experiences with a socially and environmentally conscious mission that echoes throughout the organization.

Job Purpose

We are looking for an IT Support Engineer with an Operations Technology (OT) focus to join our on-site IT team at our Phone Local Assembly Plant in Kenya.

This is a lead role reporting directly to the IT Systems Manager.

Collaboration

You would actively be collaborating with the rest of the team in a high-performance cross-functional work environment, including industrial engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, and IT engineering. By extension, you would be a technical liaison between IT and the assembly line machine engineers and managers to support and deliver technical services and automation solutions to resolve assembly line issues and improve operational performance.

Autonomous Support

If you are self-driven and can work under minimum supervision, then this role would enable you to make decisions and recommendations that would directly affect IT support at the assembly line. You would be supporting operations and personnel to guarantee maximum uptime, ensuring timely backups of all critical IT systems are taken, tested, and properly stored to guarantee minimum RTO and RPO.

Background

If you have a background in creating and implementing solutions to improve operational performance, supporting and enhancing capability, and delivering and maintaining IT infrastructure, then this might be a fitting role.

Additionally, having an IT-related certification with at least 2 years of working experience in IT, especially around network administration and PC maintenance, would make you a good fit.

Location

This would be an on-site job at our phone assembly line in Nairobi, Kenya, and would come with a good compensation package. Our assembly line is in operation 24 hours a day; therefore, you would be needed to work either a night or day shift, but this would be well planned out to ensure a proper work-life balance.

M-KOPA is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to assembling a diverse, broadly trained staff. Women, minorities, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

M-KOPA explicitly prohibits the use of Forced or Child Labour and respects the rights of its employees to agree to terms and conditions of employment voluntarily, without coercion, and freely terminate their employment on appropriate notice. M-KOPA shall ensure that its Employees are of legal working age and shall comply with local laws for youth employment or student work, such as internships or apprenticeships.

M-KOPA does not collect/charge any money as a pre-employment or post-employment requirement. This means that we never ask for ‘recruitment fees’, ‘processing fees’, ‘interview fees’, or any other kind of money in exchange for offer letters or interviews at any time during the hiring process.
