A Hybrid working model
Now offices are fully open we have embraced a hybrid working model, which allows our employees to split their time between the office and other locations, something we hope will provide everyone much more flexibility to their working week. The expectation is that working life at Hogarth will involve working from the office for about 60% of the time for most people. And one-part always-on content studio with brand design-centric makers and integrated client brand governance. Our specialist centers of excellence have a globally connected footprint with locally integrated agency + client creative partnerships. As well as expanded partnerships across WPP to amplify our offering when needed.
The Role
We are looking for a passionate and talented Senior Art Director & Designer to join the Makerhouse Europe Creative team. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on creative who wants to become part of an enthusiastic team to work across a vast array of multi-channels. We are keen to meet candidates who can inspire with creative ideas and excellence.
This role will benefit from experience in CGI, product packaging, brand book / toolkits, Social and storytelling. The brand is a new one for Makerhouse, British American Tobacco (BAT), who are an existing client of our partners VML & Hogarth. The core focus of the brand is FMCG products, but the audience, through social channels and media, is universal, and there is a clear focus on delivering stories that resonate with a range of audience cultures.
The Creative candidate will be responsible for designing & art directing product toolkits, creative concepting, and other art direction and design solutions. From initial concepts and development of the idea, working closely with other creative and operational specialists through to final implementation for all media channels.
The Midweight Art Director & Designer will create, craft, nurture concepts and ideas which push the media channels we use and go beyond a simple 30 second ad, we are after individuals who embrace new channels or re-invent old ones, someone who can take a loose brief and surprise us with multiple options of how this idea could be executed, making it newsworthy or sharable in social to generate earned media. They are strategic thinkers, visual problem solvers, able to craft and design (NOT finished to artwork level), and able to craft a headline or compose their thoughts into a paragraph. As cross-functional collaborator, you will partner with other Creatives, Producers and Project Managers to bring ideas to life. Your ideas will need to inform, persuade, stimulate, attract attention, and ultimately engage – driving social conversation and shareability.
Major Responsibilities:
- Strength in conceptual and creative ideation – bringing ideas to life in traditional and non-traditional channels
- Exercise imagination, craft skills and creativity of campaign thinking – beyond a 30” TV ad
- Proactively identify opportunities for creative excellence
- Build upon the creativity we have in the Makerhouse team, pushing the art direction and design medium further
- Use design and art direction to craft beautiful stories to ensure engagement, clarity of message and brand consistency across every media channel
- Work independently or collaborate with others (local and remotely) as part of a team, through the development and production phases
- Work closely with and take direction from Creative Directors, Executive Creative Directors and/or Clients, to develop and implement exceptional creative solutions in all media
- High energy and passion for understanding new social platforms and trends
- Know and apply industry standards relative to each project
- Accurately estimate and record time spent on projects

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not essential with the right experience
- Experience in Multi-disciplinary Creative Agency
- Have physical and mental requirements to meet the above listed job responsibilities
