Job Description
Accountant at Burhani Engineers Ltd
Job Purpose :
- To drive accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and decision-making through expert management of accounting operations and financial management functions.
Accounting Operations
- Reviewing financial statements and general ledger entries to ensure completeness, accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.Â
- Posting monthly journal entries and intercompany transactionsÂ
- Making payments to suppliersÂ
- Review the debtor balances and lead the collection process.Â
- Prepare bank reconciliations  Â
- Filing tax returnsÂ
- Investigating and resolving KRA queriesÂ
- Ensure timely day to day operations of the accounts’ functions.Â
- Liaising with ERP system team – Accounts configurations, process flows, suggest and implement improvements to system processes where applicableÂ
Financial Management and Reporting
- Create Monthly and quarterly budgets for the Group.Â
- Prepare and analyze financial statements; income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Â
- Prepare consolidated accounts of the group.Â
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide financial analysis to support decision-making on cost saving and revenue enhancement.Â
- Responding to management queries on matters Finance of the Group and individual companies.Â
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.Â
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies and relevant regulations like IFRS, Kenya tax laws, etc.Â
Compliance and Audit
- Quarterly and Annual internal audit reviews. Â
- Liaising and facilitating auditors during the review period.Â
- Preparing and sharing financial analysis – TB with comments.Â
- Investigating and resolving audit findings, discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance Â
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirementsÂ
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and assess their impact on the organizationÂ
Strategic Planning and decision support
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and business growth initiatives.Â
- Participate in financial forecasting, long-term financial planning, and risk management activitiesÂ
- Evaluate financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunitiesÂ
Team Leadership and Management
- Create a positive work environmentÂ
- Collaborate with other subsidiaries so as to ensure smooth financial operations and accurate financial reporting.Â
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is preferred.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in private or public accounting
- Proven experience in project accounting and financial management, preferably within construction industry.
- Proven experience in project management
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and project budgeting.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in financial accounting software
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
