Job Description
Finance Intern at Umba
- We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Intern to join our team and assist with financial reconciliation tasks. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing and analyzing financial data, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting our Finance Department’s daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Bank Reconciliation:
- Assist in the reconciliation of bank statements with company financial records.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between bank records and the general ledger.
Account Reconciliation:
- Perform monthly reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure that all reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly.
Transaction Analysis:
- Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in the investigation of any unusual or suspicious transactions.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and organized reconciliation documentation.
- Prepare reconciliation reports and summaries for review by senior finance staff.
Support Financial Audits:
- Assist in the preparation of documentation required for internal and external audits.
- Provide support during audit processes, ensuring that all requested information is available.
Data Entry and Maintenance:
- Assist with data entry and maintenance of financial records in accounting software.
- Ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and enhance efficiency.
- Assist in the implementation of new reconciliation tools or software.
General Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Department as needed.
- Assist with other finance-related tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
